SCORM Integration with Your Learning Management System (LMS)

Do your eLearning courses need to run on a Learning Management System (LMS)? Developing courses using the SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) standard is the best way to make this happen. Unison courses can be deployed using the SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 1.3 (also known as SCORM 2004) standard. So you have the flexibility to run your courses in an LMS that supports either standard.

Unison Creates the SCORM Package for You

When you are ready to deploy your course,Unison Publishing to SCORM image you simply select the SCORM version and fill out some basic information, and your course is instantly packaged into a conformant content ZIP package ready to upload to your favorite SCORM-conformant LMS.

The content package consists of the manifest file and other files required by the SCORM Content Aggregation Model (CAM).

Most LMSes should be able to upload the package and set the course ready to run.

Some LMSes may have specific requirements for the manifest file that you will need to tweak. Check with your LMS vendor for more specific information. Once loaded onto the LMS, the course uses the standard SCORM Run Time Environment (RTE) calls to communicate with the LMS.

What SCORM Data is Tracked?

Most common data is automatically communicated, including:

  • Book marking
  • State information (completed pages)
  • Time spent in the course
  • Quiz results
  • Individual quiz question information

Making Custom SCORM Calls

With PowerPro™ Customization Access, you can even create your own custom SCORM calls. If you are unsure whether or not your LMS supports SCORM, check with your LMS vendor or download a sample Unison SCORM course and test it for yourself:
